There are SO many tribes and civilizations in this reigon, and assuming this is the last page your looking at, you've probably seen me talk about some. specifically the Olmec, Maya, Teotihuacan, Toltecs, And the Aztecs. But those definetly are't the only ones. Others include (but are not limited to): The Zapotec, Chavin, Mixtec, Inca, and propably more. But, being the selfish and curently slightly overwork person I am, I'm going to continue to focus on the first five.
Olmec
The Olmec are refured to as "the mother of nature" and that is because they laid the ground work for many of the civilizations in the Mesoamerican reigion. There wrighting, math, art, and religon all greatly influenced later cultures. They were also Mesoamerica's first major civilization.
Maya
The Maya were some of the first people to understand the concept of the number 0 and utilize it. They developed hieroglyphic writing, one of the few fully made writing systems at the time.
Teotihuacan
They were one of the most crucial trade centers, as well as being a major religious site. Their pyramids were made on a huge scale, and were centers for ritual practices.
Toltecs
The heavily influenced the religious and artistic practices of the Mayan and Aztec. The two tribes even considered them the 'golden age', trying to emulate there achivements. The Aztecs even created the concept of 'Toltecayotl' meaning to have a toltec heart.
Aztecs
They are considered the last great Mesoamerican empire. They have a lasting impact on Mexico's culture, The Aztecs language (Nahuatl) Is still being spoken by over a million people in Mexico. Unlike most civilizations at the time, the Aztec were great at keeping records, via sculptures and writing.
